I have been building the web since 1995, starting with hand-written HTML in middle school. My first paid work in the field was not building anything. Someone hired me to teach them HTML, and when I asked why the rate was so high, he pointed at a stack of unread books on his desk and said my two hours had saved him many of his. I have been selling that trade ever since.

Professionally I have been at this since 1999. Today I run OptSus, a marketing services business I rebuilt as an AI-native operating system after 2022 changed what was possible. Frontier models plan, smaller models execute, and deterministic software owns state, routing, and recovery. I spend an hour or two a day improving the systems. The systems do the rest.

Along the way: a BA in political science and philosophy and an MA in political science, both in the UNC system, chosen deliberately because computers were already easy to understand and humans were not. Philosophy for why people behave the way they do on their own, political science for what happens when you put them in groups. Teaching digital marketing and web development at six universities across the country. Leading SEO and WordPress training events since 2013. A garden, a lot of miles, and a standing interest in doing more with less.
